Freelancers: Companies want you

How much is an employee worth? This may sound like a simple question. One only needs to calculate how much that person is paid plus any benefits such as health insurance or other benefits and consider that as the cost of that employee right? No.

An employee – a really good employee – may be priceless to the company. A great employee is much more than the salary that is paid to that employee. A great employee provides leadership to his or her peers. A great employee provides reliable quality and inspiration to the company as well as to the rest of the staff. A great employee will be invaluable to the company.

This is why in an article in September 2015 in the Times of India it was reported that t he latest big problem at India’s top internet companies is attrition – particularly in the senior ranks.

Prized, quality employees are tremendously sought out by all companies. There are even stories of a company BUYING another company JUST so that the acquiring company can get an key employee who works for the acquired company. Indeed, Sunit Mehra, who is a managing partner at an executive recruitment company in India by the name of Hunt Partners stated that Internet companies in India “are growing so rapidly that they haven’t built the fundamental concept of retaining people, especially at the top-level.”

This is where IndiaFreelancers.com comes in. On IndiaFreelancers.com we have some of the very best programmers, web developers, database engineers and technical professionals in India. Thus, it is not unusual for people to hire a programmer on IndiaFreelancers.com as a “test” and then hire him or her away from IndiaFreelancers.com to their company.

We at IndiaFreelancers.com know this and, actually, we are happy about it. We do not want to stand in anyone’s way to their happiness. If we on IndiaFreelancers.com can give a person his or her start in the world of IT, then we are happier for it.

Freelancers: Best places to work

Many of us are not so lucky as to have a choice of where to work. Many of us are just happy to have a job.

But for those of us who have skills in high demand in the marketplace, the possibility of choice of where to work comes to play. And, as with most things in life, with choice come decisions to be made.

According to the recently published 2nd annual list of the Best Workplaces in Asia-Pacific, the Indian divisions of Multi National Corporations (MNCs) such as the package delivery service DHL, Marriott Hotels and the search engine giant Google were ranked to be among the top places in Asia where to work. The better news is that also on the list were 10 India-in-origin companies such as Lupin Pharmaceuticals headquartered in Mumbai, M&M automobile manufacturing corporation headquartered in Maharashtra and InterGlobe Enterprises headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana which made it to the list of the 25 Best Places to Work in the Large Places category.

The key with all of this is that there are some good and nice places where to work in India – be it an India Origin company (such as Lupin, M&M or InterGlobe) or an India division of a Multinational Corporation. But as nice as they are (after all, they did just qualify for the Best Workplaces in Asia-Pacific list), they are all employed positions. What this means is that when you work for one of these places – as nice as they are – you are still employed by them and you must do as they say.

Doing as the boss says is ok for many people, but for some among us the ability to be your own boss is a strong calling. The ability to set one’s own hours and one’s own free time is quite alluring. For those of us who have technical skills which are in strong demand these days and who feel the tug on our emotional heart strings to be our own boss, there is IndiaFreelancers.com.

On IndiaFreelancers.com you can chose which projects you accept. Choose when you will work and at what hours of the day. You can go to the park in the morning and work in the evening – or vice/versa. You can take care of the children until they are asleep and then work during their nap times. The flexibility is tremendous.

Thus, even though there are wonderful places where to work – and they have qualified for the 2nd annual list of the Best Workplaces in Asia-Pacific as noted above – please remember that if you have technical skills such as a web site designer, computer programmer or other technical professional, you  can chose to work for yourself on IndiaFreelancers.com and have the freedom and exhilaration that comes from working for yourself on your own schedule.

Freelancers: Tata versus Epic – please be careful

This past Friday April 15th, 2016 a United State’s Federal Grand Jury in the state of Wisconsin handed down a fine of $940 million dollar fine against because of a trade secret lawsuit that the Epic company filed against India’s Tata Group (which consists of the Tata Consultancy Services and Tata America International Corporation).

In the case above, a federal grand ruled that Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. and Tata America International Corporation must each pay $240 million to Epic Systems for ripping off its software. How embarrassing for an India company to be caught doing something like this.

This is not a good day for India. In this blog I have mentioned many times how wonderful things look for us in India. How we in India are developing a great name for ourselves in the international stage. I keep mentioning how we in India are becoming a world economic power and how the world is looking to our technical abilities and regards them as being excellent. I mention  over and over how many excellent and outstanding programmers, web designers and technical professionals we have in IndiaFreelancers.com and how proud we are of their abilities.

But things like this Tata case against the medical software company Epic do not make us in India look good at all. As unpleasant as this story has been, the good news is that this is a small story. There was no super coverage of this story on the evening news in America. This story did not make it to the front pages of the newspapers. This is good. As we in India grow and become more and more respected around the world, we do not want for people to think of us as anything other than completely honest and of the highest integrity.

The good news about this Tata versus Epic case is that people in America and in Europe and the rest of the world think of it as just one company versus another company – and not as Indians behaving dishonorably. Thank Goodness!

So we ask our excellent and outstanding programmers, web developers and technical experts on IndiaFreelancers.com to please be careful which work orders or assignments you accept. With a name like IndiaFreelancers.com, the world is watching to see what we and our excellent programmers in India do. The world is indeed watching India and we want that what they see encourages the rest of the world to continue to feel that we in India are the best of what is to come in the next century – and we most certainly are.

Yesterday, April 15th, 2016 governor Raghuram Rajan of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that the RBI may LOWER its interest rates (lower? Yes, lower) if inflation continues to ease up and if India’s monsoon season turns out to be a good one. Governor Rajan further stated that India has “got it right” with our country’s financial policy in terms of managing our growing and emerging economy.

I could not agree more. At a time when the USA and other countries are thinking of INCREASING their interest rates, the RBI is considering LOWERING our interest rates in India. These guys could not be more wise. A lower interest rate will continue to help Indians to borrow money with which to start new businesses and thereby continue India’s rise as a world economic power.

In our lifetimes, we are witnessing the rise of prominence of India on the world’s stage. The day is soon arriving when India will be more than an “emerging economy.” India will soon be world economic power. It is through such excellent leadership like governor Rajan’s of the RBI that our economy will continue to thrive and grow. Indeed, the RBI has lowered its interest rate by an approximate cumulative amount of 1.5 per cent since a little over two years ago in January of 2015. Now THAT’S Indian leadership. That is the kind of leadership which has produced Indian native sons and daughters such as the current CEOs of companies such as Microsoft, Google and Pepsi. A slow, steady and PREDICTABLE decrease in interest rates allows us in India to better plan things. We know what to expect in terms of interest rates and therefore we can better plan when to take out loans to start, grow and/or expand businesses here in India.

This kind of Indian excellence is the excellence that is sprouting out like blooming flowers all over India in different and diverse industries from medicine to technology. Indian quality, intelligence and ability is on beautiful display on the world’s stage and making a wonderful name for itself.

Indian quality is equally greatly and wonderfully on display on IndiaFreelancers.com. On this platform/website some of the best and the brightest technology minds in India are available to be employed. Via IndiaFreelancers.com people from all over the world – Europe, China, America and many other countries – are able to hire our excellent, outstanding and superb technical minds here in India – for the betterment of the planet and the continued growth worldwide of the Indian name as a symbol of quality. So we tell our outstanding Freelancers on IndiaFreelancers.com to carefully continue to “watch your world”. Keep an eye on things such as interest rates and what the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other institutions do so you can continue to be the crest of the wave that brings India into the 22nd century. We here at Blog.IndiaFreelancers.com will continue to keep you informed of what is happening around you as you continue your journey for India’s glory.

Freelancers: How much do you know Google?

April 14, 2016

On September 4, 1998 people learned of a new Internet company called “Google”. I remember those days. People told me that “there must be some catch.” People would tell me “if you use that Google thing, next thing you know is that you will be receiving tons of emails and advertisements.” People would say things like “It can’t be any good if they are giving it away for free.”

But, as history has taught us, it sure can be and is quite good. In fact, it is so good that in 1998 when Google was initially launched, people were making about 500,000 searches per day on Google and today people are making 2.3 million searches PER SECOND on Google. Did I just say “2.3 million per second?” Yes sir, I did. That is nothing short of unbelievable, but true.

Google is so prevalent on the Internet that in 2013 when Google went down for for 5 minutes the GLOBAL INTERNET traffic dropped by 40%! Now that is power. Did you know that when you ask Google something, it actually takes OVER 200 THINGS into account about your question before giving you an answer – and it does all of that in about 1/8th of one second!

This is, of course, why Google is one of the world’s most formidable companies. It is even more amazing, when you think of it, that such a formidable company is now headed by someone of Indian decent. Yes Sundar Pichar, of Indian decent, is the Chief of Google.

As I have written previously in this blog, we in India need to feel quite proud of our countrymen who have left India and have created excellent names for themselves. We also should feel equally proud of the countrymen who did NOT leave India and who are doing great things here in our home land.

IndiaFreelancers.com is just such an achievement. On IndiaFreelancers.com we have some of the best and the brightest web designers, programmers, database engineers and technical professionals in all of India. The quality that the world has come to expect from those of us in India, is here on IndiaFreelancers.com.

So the next time that you use Google remember two things: 1) A person of Indian origin is chief of that tremendous company and 2) Maybe the next genius who can make something as great as Google may be the programmer or web designer or database expert who you hire or work with on IndiaFreelancers.com.

Freelancers and Women: Outstanding potential

Who was Rosalyn Yalow?  Janet Rowley? No idea? How about Marie Curie?  Rosalind Frankin? Give up? Well these are all women who made tremendous contributions to the world of science and through them, improved  all of our lives. Without these women we would not know today how to measure hormone levels in people (Rosalyn Yalow), or know how chromosomes cause a kind of leukemia known as Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (Janet Rowley) or know anything about radiation (Marie Curie) or even know much about DNA itself (Rosalind Frankin).

What am I getting at? What I am getting at is that women have contributed greatly to human understanding and scientific growth. Without the women mentioned above – and many others whose achievements have not been as celebrated as the ones mentioned above – our lives would be much worse. All of our lives – men included of course – would be so much diminished if not for the brains and the intelligence of these wonderful women.

This is why I applaud very much the suggestions made last week by the Human Resource Development (HRD) minister Smriti Irani. Acting on minister Irani’s suggestions, on Tuesday April 5th, 2016  the University Grants Commission (UGC) made the decision to relax the criteria for women and for selected disabled candidates with at least a 40% disability to allow them more time in which to complete their MPhil and PhD degrees.

Women make up the other half of the human race. Without women none of us would have arrived on this earth and none of us would have had the nurturing, loving person in our lives which made our very lives possible. However, women in today’s world are capable of these noble things and more – much more. Women today can be that wonderful nurturing presences in our lives while at the same time help to discover how DNA is formed. They can give birth to us while at the same time become one of the most famous researchers in the world of radioactivity. In short, women can – and do – live to their potential every day. And we should help them to do so.

Under the new UGC criteria announced last Tuesday, women and those with more than a 40% disability will now be allowed an extra year to complete their MPhil degree and two extra years to submit their PhD theses. How wonderful! What this means is that women can now take some time off to have their children and still be able to come back and finish their degrees. This means that the Rosalyn Yalow of tomorrow, the Janet Rowley of the future will have the opportunity to give to the world the fruits of their excellent and wonderful minds.

We at IndiaFreelancers.com have been celebrating the keen and wonderful contributions which our women programmers and web developers give to the technical world for a long time. We have many Freelancers who are women and we celebrate their achievements every day.

400 years is a long time. Think about it. 400 years ago in America, the colony of Jamestown was established. This was 170 years before the country of America/USA itself even existed. 400 years ago in India the states of Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh and karnataka, among others, did not exist.

Therefore, 400 years is a long time; however, as long as that is, that is how long it has been before the entry for women into the sanctum of the Shani temple had been permitted. The ban on women has been in place for four centuries. Women have not been allowed to step onto the high platform on which stands the black stone which symbolizes Lord Shanidev, the personification of planet Saturn – until now. But this four-century-old tradition was changed last Friday April April 9th, 2016 when a Bombay high court, stimulated by equal rights activists helped to bring the Shani Shingnapur temple trust to agree to break 400 years of not allowing women into the high platform and announced that it will allow women into the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine.

These developments have been amazing in a few ways. Amazing that such a tradition of four centuries can change – as well as amazing that it has taken 4 centuries for the tradition to change. Both are impressive.

But by contrast, although the world of traditions take a long time to change, the world of IT changes rapidly. Women make up a substantial proportion of our excellent programmers, web developers and tech professionals on IndiaFreelancers.com. Not only do we not discriminate against women, we at IndiaFreelancers.com encourage women to please come to be a part of our excellent website and platform.

There are many applications and program requirements which benefit from the point of view of a woman. Equally important, woman as as gifted and as excellent in these programming and technical skills as their male counterparts – and we wish to encourage more and more women to join our ranks.

Therefore, although it may have taken 400 years for women to be allowed into the sanctum of the Shani Shingnapur temple, it only takes a minute or two to find excellent and outstanding female programmers, web designers and technical professionals on IndiaFreelancers.com. We are very proud of women’s achievements on IndiaFreelancers.com.

Freelancers: Vidyalakshmi

The world values Indian’s IT capabilities and now our government in India is showing us that it very much values out IT as well.

The India Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) today, April 8, 2016, proposed that all IIT students, at the time when they are admitted to the school, are to be given the possible access to INTEREST-FREE loans for their entire tuition, under the government’s “Vidyalakshmi” program. Now, as attractive as that sounds, we have to remember that it is particularly difficult to obtain admission to an IIT school in India. Indeed, the JEE (Joint Entrance Examinations) can be the “make or break” for the dreams of a young person who dreams of being an IT student. Indeed, just to qualify to take the examination students need to have a minimum 75% passing scores in their examinations and /or be in the top 20 percentile in the class XII examination. It is no easy accomplishment for a young person to obtain entrance to IIT.

But, with hard work and perseverance, a young person is able to obtain entrance to IIT – and their government will reward them with an interest-free loan as part of this new “Vidyalakshmi” program.

Why is this so significant? Indian IT is becoming a world class IT. As I have mentioned many times in this blog, we have India countrymen who are heading up some of the most prominent IT companies in the world such as Google and Microsoft to name a few. Entrance to IIT may be a young person’s chance to lift his or her family out of poverty and into the growing middle and upper class in India.

Once finished with IIT schooling, a young graduate can work with IndiaFreelancers.com and earn an amazing income – even while he or she ponders what will be the next step in his or her career.

The future of the world is in IT and with this “Vidyalakshmi” program our government in India recognizes that in India we have some of the best IT personnel in the world – and they are helping to continue this trend. Websites such as IndiaFreelancers.com are leading the way. We have some of the very best IT experts, web programmers, Internet experts, web developers in India working in IndiaFreelancers.com – and we applaud the government’s “Vidyalakshmi” program as a step to continuing the growth of this excellent class of professionals in India.

Freelancers: Dangers abroad – stay home and Freelance!

In today’s Times of India paper, April 6, 2016, there is an article that an IT engineer from Kerala has been abducted in Libya by an unidentified militia. To our knowledge, according to the stories we have read, the 43 year old Regi Joseph of Koorachundu in the Kozhikode district was not doing anything political or wrong. He was working on IT. His project was to help implement a national citizen database. He was an infrastructure engineer living in Tripoli with his wife Shinuja who is a nurse and their three daughters. For goodness’ sake. An infrastructure IT engineer, a nurse and three young daughters. How much more innocent can you be? Yet he was abducted.

Events like these illustrate the perils and dangers of leaving home. We highlighted in a previous blog entry that many of our Indian countrymen are leaving our beloved India for distant places. They leave in search of a better life for themselves and their families – and the numbers are impressive. Every day Doctors, computer programmers, engineers and other professionals leave India in search of better opportunities for themselves and for their families elsewhere. As I mentioned in my previous blog post, government data show that there are about 2.8 million Indians working in Saudi Arabia, approximately 3.3 million Indians in America, about 1.2 million Indians in Canada and about 1.5 million Indians in the United Kingdom (see this wikipedia page for more details).

Why is this  information critical on this blog? Its critical because with websites such as IndiaFreelancers.com it is now possible to stay home in India and have the foreigners come to you! Every day on IndiaFreelancers.com hundreds of employers come to seek out computer programmers, developers, website specialists and database programmers. Every day computer experts – all top-notch in their areas of specialty – are sought after on IndiaFreelancers.com by employers from abroad. People come to IndiaFreelancers.com from America, Europe, Asia and Australia – to name but a few places.

The quality of our technological experts is starting to be strongly and well known throughout the world. That is why one of our India countrymen was hired to go to Libya to work on their IT project there in the first place – because our experts are good!

But now with IndiaFreelancers.com it is possible to stay home and have the foreigners come to you! They know how excellent is our quality here in India and they will come to IndiaFreelancers.com to find you. So please, think again before leaving home. IndiaFreelancers.com gives you the opportunity to stay home and be among your families and friends – and still make an outstanding income and living.

Freelancers: To Expatriate or to Freelance?

Every day, thousands of Indians leave our homeland seeking employment outside of India. Doctors, computer programmers, engineers and other professionals leave India daily in search of better opportunities for themselves and for their families elsewhere.

Government data show that there are about 2.8 million Indians working in Saudi Arabia, approximately 3.3 million Indians in America, about 1.2 million Indians in Canada and about 1.5 million Indians in the United Kingdom (see wikipedia).

Why so many of our citizens are leaving India to seek a better life elsewhere? Well, once upon a  time India did not have as much to keep us as it is now developing. But that is the past. Almost on a daily basis India is growing and becoming a stronger and wealthier country. Our infrastructure grows along with our financial strength as does the ability of our native India to offer our citizens a higher quality of life.

The question will someday soon not be: “Should I leave India in search of a better life elsewhere?” but instead “Why in the world should I leave India? Things are great here”

People of all skills and educational backgrounds are finding great employment opportunities in India. This is especially true for those with technical skills such as programmers, web designers and computer knowledgeable professionals. These excellent professionals can stay in India and have the work come from abroad to them by taking part in websites such as IndiaFreelancers.com.

And foreign countries know this. They know how absolutely excellent people of Indian heritage are – and they value them accordingly. Saudi Arabia, for example, announced today April 4, 2016 that expatriate workers from India who arrive in Saudi Arabia in search of work, will be given free pre-paid SIM cards on their arrival to the kingdom. Free SIM Cards! Think of it. Saudi Arabia knows what amazing quality it receives when they receive our expatriates. They know it so well that they are willing to give our citizens free pre-paid SIM cards on their arrival. It will not be long before the rest of the world knows and appreciates this as well.

Therefore, if you are a young Indian person with technical, computer, programming or Internet knowledge and skills, consider not leaving your wonderful homeland in search of a better life elsewhere. Consider working with IndiaFreelancers.com and having the world come to you!
